- Introduction to Reiki & Healing EnergyToday there are some elements in the modern practice of Reiki that might raise questions about exactly what stands over and above the simple placebo effect. In traditional Japanese Reiki, for example, symbols are drawn to fix energy in the position you want. These are drawn in the air directly above the client, and the symbols are fixed in place so that the energy remains for the required amount of time and the patient can absorb it at their leisure. Then ‘sacred words’ are quietly spoken so that the client knows what to do with that energy. In Japanese Reiki, clients are supposed to know about the symbols and ‘sacred words’ to be treated. Also, they are supposed to be involved in the healing process as well. Each client should think at least ‘one thing’ in their ‘mind’. Then, their ‘mind’ reaches as a ‘consciousness’ like an electron in quantum mechanics. Now, quantum mechanics finally came into the explanation of Japanese Reiki as a science. In the case of Western Reiki, clients would know there were some signs like dizziness, relaxation, perspiration with closed fists, and they might make their own opinions. They find out themselves while they are involved with Reiki. The complete system of Reiki is a form of medicine that is believed to unleash the curative power of the universe. This practice originated in Japan in the early 20th century and was developed by Mikao Usui. The system of healing employs both people and a vast array of other species from the natural world to tackle all kinds of diseases: physical ailments, mental disorders, spiritual crises, even pain. It is believed that Reiki will make the world a better place by working such ‘miracles’ in practitioners as well as in creatures needing their help.As a result, practitioners feel that sense of upsurge in power as evidence of healing by a higher source.Indeed, the word ‘Reiki’ itself is built on two Japanese familiar characters that stand for the concepts of ‘supernatural power’ and ‘energy.’But the Japanese characters can also be read as the more colloquial ‘sacred essence,’ which gives a more traditional feel to the term, reflecting the manner of treatment Reiki originally represented.
